IRS Criminal Investigations
The law is comprised of two cases, civil and criminal. Conflicts between two parties or institutions are civil cases and require a court’s intervention if the problem cannot reach a settlement independently. Examples of civil cases include divorces, custody rights and personal injuries from motor vehicle accidents.
Criminal cases involve IRS criminal investigations where the prosecution of an individual or institution for violating public laws. In an IRS criminal investigation, the government charges whoever (allegedly) committed the crime. Examples of IRS criminal investigations include vehicular manslaughter, insider trading, and drug trafficking.
